butterfly valves are the valves of the future because of following advantages that it has over other valves:
- Light-weight design resulting in lower cost and ease of handling
- Smaller face to face dimensions making it an economic choice especially for line sizes above 8" compared to other bulkier options like gate valves.
- Due to relatively high coefficient of flow (Cv) and relatively low pressure drop the pump size is minimized and system wear reduced compared to other low recovery valves like globe valves.
